On Sunday 23rd April 2023, UK smartphones will receive a 10-seconds Emergency Alert. The Government is testing a new emergency alert system to warn people in case of major weather events or any other danger to life, health or property.
This alert will be a siren-like alarm & vibration for 10 seconds even if your phone is on silent or the volume is turned down.
If you live with an abusive partner and have a secret phone, then this alert could give the phone away.
