volunteer

  • Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to a local charity and the community?
  • Do you have a few hours a week to help us with an exciting project?
  • Do you have existing skills to bring to a café environment or community activity groups?

Rotherham Rise’s Community Café is a hub where you can feel welcome, make new friends, and learn new skills through various group activities. The cafe is also there to support the charity and its vital work in reducing social isolation and improving the wellbeing of those affected by domestic abuse (DA) and child sexual exploitation (CSE). Volunteers are vital to the running of our community café.

Why we want you

We are looking for exceptional people over 16 years of age who can help the food, drinks, and various activities and events run smoothly, keep the environment relaxing and clean, and, most importantly, provide a friendly face and ensure everyone is welcomed. To learn more about the various Volunteering Roles – click here for the Role Description.

Whether you have a passion, hobby, or skill that you’d like to share, or you just love making people smile, we need you! If you can bring your ideas, skills, and personality to help us enrich our community cafe, we will help you build on your skills and confidence and give you induction training. Does this sound like you? We’d love to hear from you!

What’s in it for you

  • You will learn new skills and gain experience in community work and/or hospitality.
  • Your induction will be thorough, clear, and supportive. In addition to the practical training you will need for the role of your choice, we offer DA and CSE awareness training so that volunteers can better understand our work.
  • Friendly team and mentors who will stay in touch with you regularly beyond your induction to ensure your experience with us is positive.
  • We will also be on hand to support any volunteer who wants to develop their ideas for new groups, activities or opportunities.
  • Our diverse activities are designed to be fun, engaging, and to support the wellbeing of cafe visitors.
  • Most importantly, our volunteers get a lot of satisfaction and a sense of purpose from knowing they are making a real difference to people in their community.
