Trustee with Treasurer Responsibilities (voluntary role)

Rotherham Rise is a registered charity that provides advice and support for women, men and their children who have experienced domestic violence and abuse through the provision of accommodation and outreach services. We also provide support for people affected by child sexual exploitation, and counselling service.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a female trustee (also referred to as directors) with treasurer responsibilities to join us, due to the relocation of our recent treasurer.

About The Role

In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee we are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in financial management and strategy.
  • A sound understanding of the role Governance plays in an organisation.
  • An ability to assess and comment on an organisation’s control environment including risk management, internal controls and related assurance.

This is an important role within our board, and you will be making a difference to those who have experienced abuse and sexual exploitation, supporting the service to ensure they can move on in their journey. You will use your expertise to provide strategic direction, support and governance to the charity to ensure we continue to deliver a first-class service.

Commitment

You will be able to commit to attending bi-monthly board meetings which take place on an evening in a central location in Rotherham, as well as leading a committee group, attending development and occasional additional meetings, along with our AGM. Communication takes place between meetings by email, and occasionally by phone.

Important Dates

We are keen to recruit from across a diverse sector of skills and knowledge, and are particularly keen to hear from applicants with knowledge of:

  • Human Resources
  • Fundraising
  • Social enterprise development
  • Property and business management
About The Role

The responsibilities of a trustee include:

  • Taking part in formulating and regularly reviewing the strategic aims of the organisation
  • Ensuring policy and practices of the organisation are in keeping with its aims
  • Ensuring the organisation functions within the legal and financial requirements of a charitable organisation
  • Supporting the Chief Executive and their team
